        81. Both employee and employer should check Home Office for legal work. You can find job information in newspaper, jobcentre, employment agencies or supermarket notice boards (part-time). Jobcentre Plus is run by the Department for Work and Pension and can help with job hunting, claiming benefits and arranging for interpreter. There’s also a low cost telephone service “Jobseeker Direct”. The National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) can compare your qualifications in other country with those in UK. Training information can be found at local libraries, colleges and websites. 内政部可以查到在英工作的法律条文。报纸、就业中心、猎头和超市看板上都有工作信息。就业扩展中心由“工作和养老金部”管理,可以帮助找工、申请救济及安排翻译等。也可以拨打低费率电话“找工热线”。“国家学术认证信息中心(NARIC)”可以查看国外资质在英国的适用范围。本地图书馆、学院和网上可以查到培训信息。

        82. For some jobs involves with children or vulnerable people, the employer will ask for your permission to do a criminal record check (see Home Office Criminal Records Bureau – CRB). Voluntary work can support your local community and provide useful experience for future job (check your local library). 跟小孩或弱势群体有关的工作,雇主会要求查看你的犯罪记录。详情问内政部“犯罪记录局”。志愿者工作即可支持社区又可为将来的工作增加经验,本地图书馆会提供相关信息。

        83. Job discrimination includes: Sex, Nationality (race, colour or ethnic), Disability, Religion, Sexual Orientation, Age. Northern Ireland includes political opinion. The law also says that men and women who do same job should be equally paid. Almost all the laws protecting equally both full-time and part-time work people. However, Discrimination is not against the law when the job involves working for someone in their own home. You can go Equality and Human Rights Commission (quango, taking over Commission for Racial Equality, Equal Opportunities Commission for sex and Disability Rights Commission from October 2007). Sexual harassment includes: Indecent Remarks, Comments about your look that make you feel humiliated, Comments or Questions about your Sex Life, Inappropriate Touching or Sexual Demands, Bullying or hostile degrading because of your sex. Both men and women can be victims of sexual harassment at work.         85. Employer’s legal responsibilities include pay employees, treat them fairly and take care of their health and safety. Employee’s legal responsibilities include do the job, follow all reasonable instructions and not damage their employer’s properties. Employer can not require employee to work more hours than greed on contract. Minimum wages are: 16-17, £3.64 per hour; 18-20, £4.92 per hour; 21 and over, £5.93 per hour. Employer must give employee a payslip or similar written statement to show how much tax and national insurance taken off. More information can be found from the Centre Office of Information Directgov website or the National Minimum Wage Helpline.         86. For most people, tax is automatically taken from their income to HM Revenue and Customs. Self-employed need to pay your own tax. If you receive a tax return form you should complete and return it asap. Almost everybody working in UK pay National Insurance (NI) contributions for benefits such as State Retirement Pension and National Health Service. Anyone who does not pay enough NI will not be able to receive certain benefits such as Jobseeker’s Allowance, Maternity Pay or full State Retirement Pension. Just before 16th birthday, all people inUK will be sent a National Insurance Number (including Refugees who applied asylum successfully). You can apply for one through Jobcentre Plus or local Social Security Office with your birth certificate, passport and Home Office documents allowing you stay inUK.         87. Everyone in UK who has paid enough NI will get a State Retirement Pension when retire at 65. Many people receive a pension through their work or a personal pension too. The Pension Advisory Service is free and Independent Financial Advisers are also available (check Yellow Page & Thomson local guide). British Citizen can work in any European Economic Area (EEA) country and have the same employment right. 政府退休金年满65岁发放。很多人同时收到公司提供的退休金及私人养老金。免费的“养老金咨询服务部”和收费的独立金融顾问都可以咨询(查黄页和托马斯地方志即可)。另外,英国公民可在欧洲经济区(EEA)国家工作并享受同等权利。

        88. Trade Unions are organizations that aim to improve the pay and working conditions of their members. You can choose whether to join one from Trade Union Congress (TUC). For problems at work, speak to your supervisor or trade union representative. You can also contact local Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB) or Law Centre or national Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS). You may get compensation if you are unfairly dismissed and take your case to an Employment Tribunal (court specialised in employment matters) within 3 months. 工会是保障成员工作条件和提高成员工资水平的组织。你可以自由选择加入与否。“工会联合会(TUC)”上可以查到所有工会。如果工作中出现矛盾,可向上级或工会代表投诉,也可以联系地方公民咨询局(CAB)、法律咨询中心或者国家“咨询,调解和仲裁服务”部门(ACAS)。如果被不公平解雇并在3个月内向“劳资仲裁处(专门处理劳资纠纷的法庭)”申诉,有可能获得相应补偿。

        89. Most people who become unemployed can claim Jobseeker’ Allowance (JSA) and currently available for 18-65. Unemployed 16-17 may be able to claim a Young Person’s Bridging Allowance (YPBA) instead. Ask Jobcentre Plus or Citizen Advice Bureau. Flexible New Deal is a government programme that aims to give unemployed people help. Young people who have been unemployed for 6 months and adults for 18 months are usually required to join FND.         90. Women who are expecting a baby entitled to at least 52 weeks maternity leave for both part-time and full-time workers. Some women may also be entitled to maternity pay but this depends on how long they’ve been working for their employer. New fathers who have worked at least 26 weeks are entitled to paternity leave up to 2 weeks. 孕妇可享受至少52周产假,不管全职兼职工作年限。带薪产假则跟工作时间有关。新生儿的父亲若工作超过26周也可享受至少2周的产假。

         91. The earliest age for children to do paid work is 13 except some performance work. Any child under school leaving age (16) seeking to do paid job must apply for License from Local Authority and only to light work. Children taking performance job may have to obtain a medical certificate. Children under 16 can not do: delivering milk, sell alcohol/cigarettes/medicines, working in kitchen, behind the counter of a chip shop, working with dangerous machinery or chemistry, any other harmful to their health or education. 最低工作年龄为13除了某些表演类工作。但不满16岁的人必须向当局申请特别许可并且只能做较轻的工作。从事表演的小孩也必须事先获得医疗证明。不满16岁小孩不可以做的工作有:送奶,买酒/烟/药,厨房工,小吃店后勤,危险机器或化学制品及其它任何对健康或教育有损害的工作。

For 13-16, working hours are also strictly limited as: 1) at least 2 consecutive week during the school holiday not to work; 2) more than 4 hours must have 1h break; 3) up to 2 hours on any school day or a Sunday: 4) up to 5 hours (13-14) or 8 hours (15-16) on Saturdays (or weekdays during school holidays); 5) no earlier than 7am or later than 7pm; 6) before the school close hours (except some local bylaws allow 1h before school closing); 7) up to 12h in any school week; 8) up to 25h a week (13-14) or 35h (15-16) during school holidays. No national minimum wage for those under 16. 对于13-16岁的小孩,工作时间也有严格限制:1)学校假期期间至少连续两周不得工作;2)超过4个小时必须有1小时休息;3)上学期间或周日不得超过2小时;4)放假期间或周六不得超过5小时(13-14)或8小时(15-16);5)不得早于上午7点晚于下午7点:6)不得早于放学时间(个别地区可提早1小时);7)上学期间一周不得超过12小时;8)放假期间一周不得超过25小时(13-14)或35小时(15-16)。不满16岁童工没有最低工资。

        终于看完了一遍。2007年4月的版本(目前最新版),但不少信息已经过时了,比如最低时薪和年假等。尽我所能改在了笔记里,不知道考试的时候会怎样呢?
